Consumer Hospital e-Report Card: Quality information about health care providers, or hospitals, is now internet accessible by member-consumers through the Virginia Business Coalition on Health. This snapshot e-report-card shows data for five separate procedures/conditions, using 2002 Virginia all-payer data and compares patient volume, mortality, complications, length of stay and cost. The five conditions are:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
- Stroke
- Pneumonia
- Colon Cancer
- Total Hip Replacement
Do You Know?....
- 30 Percent of all direct health care outlays today are a result of "poor quality"
- Private purchasers absorb about one-third of these costs
- Poor quality care costs a typical employer between $1,900 and $2,250 per covered employee per year
